Field Day Fun
Today was Mackenzie's first field day. She has been talking about this day for at least a month so I was really hoping that it would be all she wanted it to be. It was only the 1/2 day kindergarten classes that participated because the older kids did theirs a month ago. We had the option of buying a field day t-shirt so we of course did. I have never seen her so excited to wear something before! They had 10 games planned and they all had to do with water. Parents helped with the games and the kids had a blast. They even had a snack of fruit, water, and popsicles! Riley even got to play all the games with her sister :) All in all it was a very fun day.....even if it was 107 degrees today!

Wine and Canvas
I went to Wine and Canvas last night with some friends. They were having a rally good deal so we thought that we would try it. I have no artistic talent what so ever so I really didn't expect much. To my surprise, I really enjoyed painting. They have an artist walking you through step by step so that you come home with a beautiful painting. I found it to be very relaxing and almost theraputic. I already have purchased 2 more classes because I loved it so much.

Easter 2012
Easter was great this year! We started by coloring our eggs on Saturday. Riley thought it was pretty cool and colored a ton of eggs! Mackenzie takes after my sister, Mandy.....she took forever to do 1 egg so she didn't get to color as many! She would make them just perfect, and I have to say I was impressed! On Easter morning the girls woke up and hunted for the plastic eggs that the bunny hid all over the house and they also found their Easter baskets filled with goodies. They were so cute looking for their eggs because they wanted to make sure that they both had the same amount so they would share with each other. They were so sweet to each other it was kind of weird! I don't remember being nice to my sisters like that, I am pretty sure I wanted to have the most eggs! During the hunt we played our Easter music from when I was a kid and the girls were singing along with the songs which made me happy :) We also had my mom watch all the festivities on skype so that was pretty cool. Then we had some good friends come over for Easter brunch. We started this tradition a few years ago and I really enjoy it! We had another egg hunt for the kids at the park which was a lot of fun! Even though we weren't able to be with family we made the best of it and had a great day! We are so blessed to have found such wonderful friends here!
Had to get a picture with my mom :) |

Sagebrush
Some friends and I bought a groupon to take the kids to a place called Sagebrush Ranch. It sounded like such a fun place....Hayride, pony rides, petting zoo, and and egg hunt. Well, the kids did have fun but the parents were not impressed!! The hayride was a nice 45 minute ride, then there were 2 very mad animals tied to a fence to pet/feed (good thing I brought my own carrots), a horse that you could ride but no staff members to help you, and they ran out of eggs for the hunt so we had to wait for them to go to the store for more. Then they hunted for empty eggs in the empty animal areas but didn't bother to scoop the poop!! They did get a little prize after the egg hunt, so that was good. We went home and got directly in the shower!!! In the end the kids had fun but we will NEVER do that again!!!

Mackenzie wrist surgery
The doctors decided that they needed to put pins in Mackenzie's arm because her bone wasn't healing right. It was at a 32 degree angle. So they did the surgery a couple days ago. Mackenzie was very worried about this one ( I think since she had gone through this a few weeks ago) She told me very seriously that when it was time for her surgery she was going to run away. However, when it was time for her to go back, she just walked back there all by herself! She is such an awesome girl. She has never complained about anything and all the Doctors say she is the BEST kid! I am so proud of her! They were able to fix her arm without making an incision so that is good. They just stuck 2 pins in. I have to say that the care we got at the hospital was awesome! I was very impressed for a base hospital!! When she got home from the hospital she was doing great. She just watched movies (even a friend came over to keep her company) She will be in a cast for 6 more weeks! But she was pretty happy about this cast because it is striped with glow in the dark! Again, she was overwhelmed with love from friends and family! Seriously, so many people went out of their way to make sure Kenzie was happy!! We are so blessed! She is working on thank you cards......which might take awhile :) We will all be so glad when this is all over and she can resume normal activities!
